Young Rider Benefit Horse Trials

Beginning in 1984 as an idea on how to raise funds to send some local kids to the North American Young Rider Championships, the annual Area VII Young Rider Benefit Horse Trial has become one of Area VII’s most anticipated events. 
The event is the primary fundraiser for the Area VII Young Riders program. The dollars raised at this event are used to support our clinics, camps and sending teams to the North American Junior Young Rider Championships as well as support our Team Challenge Event.
2017 will be the 33rd annual Area VII Young Riders Benefit Horse Trials and Area VII Young Riders are already gearing up for this year’s event at Lincoln Creek in Chehalis, WA on August 13-14th. For the first 25 years of the event, it was held at Donida Farm in Auburn, Wash. The tradition now continues on in the hayfields of Lincoln Creek Farms with plans underway for several new jumps and continued improvements on the course and the event.
It is crucial that all Young Rider members and their families support this event by volunteering throughout the weekend and also in the planning prior to the event. Several work parties will be scheduled prior to the event and participation at this is strongly encouraged for all YR families and members.
The week prior to the event also brings the Team Challenge training camp to the event, with YRs working together on teams to prepare for the YR Team Challenge held two weeks later at Caber Farms.  The YR volunteers take a few hours off from painting and preparation for the event to lesson with the Team Challenge Coach.
Saturday night at the event is the Annual Silent Auction and Live Dessert Auction, complete with cocktails and appetizers.  This is a no charge party to all the competitors for supporting Young Riders.  We encourage all Young Rider members and families as well as all others to donate to the silent auction.  A link for the donation form is at the bottom of this page.
