YR BENEFIT HORSE TRIALS
34rd Annual Area VII Young Riders Benefit Horse Trials
Lincoln Creek, Chehalis, WA ~August 10-12th
Beginning in 1984 as an idea on how to raise funds to send some local kids to the North American Young Rider Championships, the annual Area VII Young Rider Benefit Horse Trial has become one of Area VII’s most anticipated events.
YR Benefit Horse Trials
The event is the primary fundraiser for the Area VII Young Riders program. The dollars raised at this event are used to support: our clinics, camps and sending teams to the North American Junior Young Rider Championships as well as support our Team Challenge Event. All prep and cleanup, along with volunteers, is done by Area VII Young Riders.
All Young Rider members are required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours in preparing for or working at the event. We appreciate and family support at this event such as volunteering throughout the weekend and also in the planning prior to the event.
Several work parties will be scheduled prior to the event and participation at this is strongly encouraged for all YR families and members.

The week prior to the event also brings the Team Challenge training camp to the event, with YRs working together on teams to prepare for the YR Team Challenge held two weeks later at Caber Farms. The YR volunteers take a few hours off from painting and preparation for the event to lesson with the Team Challenge Coach.
Annual Silent Auction and Live Dessert Auction
Saturday night at the event is the Annual Silent Auction and Live Dessert Auction, complete with cocktails and appetizers. This is a no charge party to all the competitors for supporting Young Riders. We encourage all Young Rider members and families as well as all others to donate to the silent auction.
Dessert Auction – desserts provided by Area VII YR’s are on display and a live auction is held with the desserts being auctioned off one at a time with the highest bidder winning that dessert.
Silent Auction – Young Rider members, families and others donate items or procure items from individuals or businesses for the Silent auction. Bid sheets remain open throughout the evening with the highest bidder taking home the item. Some past items which have been donated are: 2 tons of compressed Eastern WA. hay, lessons from local trainers, saddle pads, entry to area HT , grooming kit, weekend stay at condo, jump boots, wine baskets, buckets full of horse/pet goodies, breeches, wine tasting party to name a few.
