Mark your calendars for the annual clinic at Tulipsprings in Kennewick, WA. This has turned out to be a very fun weekend and a good way to start your eventing season. Area VII Young Rider coach, Jonathan Elliott, will be one of the instructors and additional instructors will be announced soon. Watch for registration materials and information to be up on the web site by the beginning of February.
Developing Rider Team Awards
Our second year of the Developing Rider team awards proved to be very successful and we will once again have the program in place for 2012. Shows chosen for this year’s team awards are Inavale, Whidbey and the YRBHT. Riders wishing to be considered for a team must be members with the Area VII Young Rider program by April 1st. No application is necessary. Riders will be chosen based on their competition record and notified by “stall mail” at the above listed events.

Area VII Young Rider Benefit Horse Trials –August 3-5 at Lincoln Creek
Mark your calendars for the major Young Rider fundraiser at Lincoln Creek this summer. We need ALL hands on deck to make this a successful fundraiser. Please also note that the weekend prior to the event, July 28th and 29th, will be the prep weekend and we need many hands to get the site ready for the show. All YR’s are expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours each year.
Area VII Young Rider Facebook
The Area VII Young Rider page has a facebook page. This is a fun way to communicate with other Area VII Young Riders and see what is going on within our area. This is a closed page and only members accepted by myself will be allowed to join the page.
This will not be the sole form of communication for the membership so joining is optional. To join look up the Area VII Young Rider page on facebook and send a request to become a friend. All “friends” will be accepted (or rejected, if not a member or friend of the organization) by the YR coordinator.
North American Junior/Young Rider Championships – July 18-22nd , Lexington, Kentucky
We are pleased to announce that Jessica Heidemann will be joining Jonathan Elliott as co- coach for 2012. Jessica is an ICP level 3 coach, a 4 Star competitor, an Area VII YR alumnae and past competitor at NAJYRC. Jessica will be working with Jonathan this year and will be the sole coach for our program in 2013 and 2014. We are excited about having Jessica work with our members and welcome her to the program!
All members interested in becoming a candidate for 2012 NAJYRC at either the One Star or Two Star Level must be members of the USEA and the Area VII Young Rider program by February 1st. Once your membership is completed on line with the USEA please notify me so that I may send you the “letter of intent” and code of conduct forms. These forms must be back to me by February 15th.
