Area VII Young Riders News - February 2008

Welcome all new and returning members to Area VII Young Riders! We currently have over 50 members and are looking forward to a great year. If you haven't sent in your membership form in yet you can find them on the Area VII web site under the Young Rider tab. All members will receive a YR polo and a Gallops Gift Certificate. Please thank Gallops Saddlery for their generous donation!

Highlights of the upcoming year include:

  • Tulipsprings Clinic Weekend - April 4-6th. Join other YR's and get a start on the season with instructors Sarah Lorenz and Peter Gray. This clinic is open to all level riders. More information and application forms can be found at www.areavii.org under the Camps and Clinics page of the YR section. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for more information. Hurry, we can only take 24 riders!

  • Young Rider Awards will be given at 5 Area VII Events. Come by the Young Rider tent at the following events to meet other YR's, have a snack and pick up your awards. We will have the tent and awards available at Aspen Farm, Inavale, Young Riders Benefit, Caber and Lincoln Creek. Young Rider shirts and gift certificates can be picked up at these events as well.

  • Listen for the announcements at Area Shows and join other YR's for guest instructor course walks. These are a fabulous way to walk the course with a top trainer for free!

  • Mark your calendar for the best summer camp ever! Join us at Aspen Farms, July 5th-9th for fabulous instruction and fun! Registration forms will be on our web site in March.

  • Aspen HT and Inavale HT are designated selection trials for North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. Dr. Mark Revenaugh has agreed to work with our team and will be examining all potential NAJYRC horses after cross country at Aspen Farms. We are lucky to have Dr. Revenaugh and his staff join our team! NAJYRC will be held this year July 30th - August 3rd in Parker, Colorado. Check out the new National YR web site and watch for updates! www.youngrider.org

  • Our major fund-raiser, Area VII Young Riders Benefit, will be held August 8th - August 10th. All proceeds help fund clinics, camps, NAJYRC and National Championships. We need everyone's help to make this Horse Trials a huge success. Watch for more details and sign ups!

  • Other clinics throughout the year. Watch your email!

    • Encourage your friends to join so they can have access to all the activities of the Area VII Young Rider program.
