Financial Support
One of the goals of Area VII Young Riders is to develop Young Riders into competent upper level Event riders. Toward this end Area VII will, based on funds available, consider support of an Area VII Young Rider when the Young Rider meets the following:
The YR must be member in good standing - including dues paid for the current year.
The YR must have met the Volunteer requirement of 15 hours. The hours must be documented and be done in the year or under some circumstances the year prior to receiving financial support.
Agrees to wear the Area VII Young Rider colors and designated clothing at the competition in which they are receiving support. Young Riders will make arrangements for these items to be available. It should be noted that certain items of clothing are only to be worn by those riders and grooms representing the Area VII Young Rider program. A rider representing Area VII Young Riders at NAJYRC will receive a team jacket.
Those riders representing Area VII Young Riders at a designated completion who wish to receive monetary support (if offered) will be required to use the designated Young Rider Coach. The rider should plan on attending all YR meetings at the competition, walk the course with the coach and utilize the coach for all warm ups. Failure to work with the coach will negate all monetary support for the rider. If stable management support is provided, the rider should be prepared to work with the grooms and stable manager. The purpose of this is to prepare the rider to work with an official coach and stable manager at NAJYRC and in hopes that someday they will ride for an US team and be familiar and comfortable with the process.
NAJYRC riders will be required to attend one or more selection trials which will be identified at the start of the season. This is to give the selection committee an opportunity to observe the horse and rider at a recognized competition.
An Area VII designated vet will examine all horses prior to NAJYRC. It is hoped that the riders and horse owners will work closely with the designated vet in order to have the soundest horse possible for the event. The goal of this process is to have the vet become familiar with the horse prior to a Three Day Event so that she/he can provide the best vet care possible for your horse.
In order to receive funds the rider and horse must successfully pass the first trot out of the competition this is to insure that a rider presents a horse that is sound and expected to compete in all phases of the competition.
Requests should be in writing (email or letter) and presented in a timely fashion so that the Young Rider Council can consider the request.
Financial Support has been offered at the following competitions:
